Just install the package or follow the instructions broaddcom. Where would I look, or what terminal code would I enter, to find out for sure? But I’ve got a broadcom 43xx wireless card as well and in Ubuntu a quick “sudo apt-get install bfwcutter” always does the trick.

Were you offered more than one choice of proprietary drivers? The same should work in Mint, and I’m sure Fedora and Arch have something similar. R250 done a lot of googling and I gather there’s a lot of issues with Broadcom cards, but some of the answers are for earlier ubuntu builds and many of them are a bit confusing for a new user.
